Augustine U. Emela holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A. (Hons.) and a Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees in English and literature from Imo State University, Owerri, Nigeria. He also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (P.G.D.E.) from the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria. A lecturer in the Department of English and Literary Studies, Imo State University, Owerri with teaching experience that spans ten years, he has published over ten critical essays including book reviews in reputable journals. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis on Femi Osofisan’s appropriation and conflation of Brechtian aesthetics and elements of traditional African theatre in his dramaturgy in the renowned African playwright’s bid to achieve artistic beauty and advance his vision of change for the establishment of a just society. Emela has been invited by the Humboldt Foundation to accompany his Ph.D supervisor Professor Dr Isidore Diala during a six-month research stay at Humboldt University, Berlin, Germany.
