Güldemann (2021) suggests Adamawa languages play a central role in the diffusion of Niger Congo as he ponders the idea of Adamawa as a staging point from where different Niger-Congo branches further developed. Hence, the examination of Adamawa languages is very important to achieve a deeper understanding of the historical development of Niger-Congo. My research builds on those ideas and tries to take first steps towards reconstructing the system of noun classification of Proto-Tula-Waja one of the primary branches of Adamawa. In my presentation, I am going to examine the possible development of two noun form- and agreement-classes *KA and *KU as well as the possibility of a proto-class *KI.
