This lecture will introduce students to the role of translation in the postcolonial contexts, analysing the theoretical encounters between postcolonial studies and translation studies, which have brought to a reshaping of both fields, as well as the metaphorical perceptions of migration and the postcolonial situation as a form of translation. It will also offer some insights into practices of translation in different postcolonial contexts and to the opposing roles that translation has played in the colonial and postcolonial space, as form of oppression and resistance.
