Anandita Bajpai received her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science (Delhi University, India). She obtained a Master’s degree in Global Studies, pursued at Universität Leipzig (Germany) and Universität Wien (Austria). Her PhD in Global Studies at the faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Universität Leipzig was titled: ‘Speaking’ the Nation: (E)merging faces of economic reforms and secularism in the rhetoric of India’s Prime Ministers, 1991-2011. She is currently a post-doctoral fellow under the DFG sponsored research project ‘Modern India in German Archives, 1706-1989’ one of whose aims is to systematically record German archive resources related to the history of modern India and the history of Indo-German interconnections in a database. In this capacity, she is institutionally based at the Department for South Asian Studies, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO), Berlin.

She has taught several courses at the BA and MA level at both Universität Leipzig and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin since 2010. Her research interests include: political rhetoric in India, India’s neo liberal economic transition, secularism, nation branding campaigns, and modern Indian history through the lens of German archives.
