Media activism among Shi’i Muslims in Mumbai attests to the global dimensions of religious mobilization, but is also influenced by state regimes of managing religious diversity. An advertizing campaign by a Shi’i Muslims combines religious propagation in a highly competitive religious environment with attempts to counteract the fragility of their citizenship.
