Rafia Zaman (M.Phil), Doktorandin am Center for Political Studies an der Jawaharlal Nehru University in Neu-Delhi, war im Mai 2012, gefördert aus Mitteln der Gerda Henkel Stiftung, Gastdoktorandin am Querschnittsbereich Medialität und Intermedialität in den Gesellschaften Asiens und Afrikas. Sie forscht zur muslimischen Frauenrechtsbewegung in Indien und hat dazu im Rahmen der Konferenz "New Mobilities and Evolving Identitites: Islam, Youth and Gender in South and Southeast Asia" (20.-21.4.2012) vorgetragen.
Sushmita Nath, PhD

At the Institut für Asien- und Afrikawissenschaften, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Sushmita’s research focused on a comparative examination of the conception of state neutrality in India and Germany through the Shah Bano case in India and the Fereshta Ludin case in Germany.

Dr. Mariadass, Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology in Bangalore, war im Sommersemester 2011 als Gastwissenschaftlerin am Querschnittsbereich Medialität und Intermedialität tätig, ihr Forschungsaufenthalt wurde aus Mitteln des DAAD gefördert.

Prof. Dr. Rinku Lamba
Frau Prof. Lamba war im Sommersemester 2011 Gastprofessorin am Querschnittsbereich Medialität und Intermedialität in den Gesellschaften Asiens und Afrikas. Ihr Aufenthalt wurde aus Mitteln des Gleichstellungsfonds der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin gefördert.

Dr. Salma Siddique
Salma Siddique studied History at St.Stephen’s College and trained as a filmmaker at AJ Kidwai Mass Communication Research Centre, New Delhi. She completed her doctoral thesis Between Bombay and Lahore: A partition history of cinema in South Asia (1940-1960) at University of Westminster, London in 2015. During the past seven years, she has taught film theory and media production at higher education institutions in India and the UK. Her research interests include film and historical processes, film archives, auteur filmmaking from Iran, and South Asian cinemas. She is also the associate editor of the journal BioScope: Screen Studies in South Asia. In 2015 she was awarded the DRS postdoctoral fellowship at Freie University, and is currently based in Berlin. Since 2018 she has been a postdoctoral fellow of Gender and Media Studies for the South Asian Region at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin.
Dr. Mallika Leuzinger
Mallika Leuzinger is a postdoctoral fellow at Princeton University, having studied History and Gender Studies at Cambridge University and Art History at UCL. She is interested in postcolonial modernity, gender, everyday technologies and archives. Her doctoral thesis attends to the spaces and relations of "domestic" photography, examining the practices of Haleema Hashim, a Kutchi Memon woman in the south Indian port city of Cochin, and the peripatetic Bengali twin sisters Manobina Roy and Debalina Majumdar, as well as how their work has been retrieved and reconfigured over the past decades. It also considers the ongoing mobilization of the camera as a tool for women's empowerment in the Global South by NGOs, artists and academics. Since completing her PhD in 2020, she has been working on the monograph Dwelling in Photography: Intimacy, Amateurism and the Camera in South Asia and a new project on digital archives and the politics of crowdsourcing history.
Dr. Fathima Nizaruddin
Fathima Nizaruddin interessiert sich sowohl im Rahmen ihrer Tätigkeiten als Medienwissenschaftlerin sowie als Dokumentarfilmregisseurin für praxisorientierte künstlerische Forschungen. Ihr letzter Film Nuclear Hallucinations (2016) wurde auf zahlreichen Filmfestivals gezeigt. Sie ist Assistenzprofessorin am AJK Mass Communication Research Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Ihr Aufenthalt als Postdoktorandin in Berlin wird im Rahmen des Postdoc-Programms der Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung "Authoritarianism and Counter-Strategies" gefördert. Dr. Parul Bhandari
Dr. Parul Bhandari war als RePLITO-Fellow für drei Monate (Okt-Dez 2021) im Fachbereich Gender and Media Studies for the South Asian Region tätig. Sie ist Soziologin und hat sich auf die Untersuchung von Ehe, Familie, Gender, Klasse und Ungleichheiten im heutigen Indien spezialisiert.
Sie ist Honorary Fellow am Centre for Multilevel Federalism, Institute of Social Sciences, Delhi. Sie war Associate Professor für Soziologie an der O.P. Jindal Global University und war als Gastprofessorin an der Delhi School of Economics (DSE), University of Delhi, und am Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, tätig. Dr. Wikke Jansen
Wikke Jansen war von Januar bis März 2022 als RePLITO Visiting Research Fellow am Fachbereich Gender and Media Studies for the South Asian Region tätig. Sie beschäftigt sich mit Fragen der queeren Solidarität, queer(ing) Religion und alternativen Ansätzen zu Forschungsethik und Positionalität. Ihre Doktorarbeit thematisiert Verstrickungen von (Un-)Mobilität und (Un-) Sichtbarkeit mit Klasse, Religion und Gender in der queeren Community in Indonesien, wo sie zwischen 2017 und 2020 ethnografische Feldforschung betrieb.

Dr. Jenson Joseph
Jenson Joseph war Alexander von Humboldt-Forschungsstipendiat am Fachbereich Gender and Media Studies for the South Asian Region (Nov. 2020-Juli 2022). Seine aktuellen Projekte befassen sich mit den Veränderungen der Medienkulturen in Indien nach den 1990er Jahren, beginnend mit dem Aufkommen des privaten Satellitenfernsehens bis hin zu heutigen informatischen Medienformen. Sein Projekt am Fachbereich für Gender- und Medienstudien für die Region Südasien an der Humboldt-Universität thematisiert das zeitgenössische Malayalam-Kino der neuen Welle. Dr. Kaustav Padmapati
Dr. Kaustav Padmati is currently working as Assistant Professor (Senior Scale) at School of Modern Media, University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Dehradun. Kaustav is also a Cross Cultural Fellow 2023 at Gender and Media Studies for the South Asian Region, Institute for Asian and African Studies, Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany. He has nearly 12 years of experience in the areas of teaching and research, international relations projects, media, public policy, content writing and project coordination. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowship and worked from August’11 to May’12 at Center for Asian Studies, School of International Service, American University, Washington DC, USA as Visiting Fulbright Research Scholar and Adjunct Faculty. He completed his Ph.D from School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi in 2021. He has published widely on international relations specifically on India- US Relations, Taiwan, Look East Policy, etc. and gender and queer identities. His research areas include China, the United States, Taiwan, East Asia, and Southeast Asia, ASEAN, International Relations, gender, and queer sexuality. His upcoming edited volume “Queer Voices from the Periphery: A Collection of Perspectives from Northeast India” is a humble attempt to bring the voices from academia and members of the queer community from Northeast part of India to put into a vantage point the challenges and struggles faced by the members of the community.
Dr. Nagehan Uskan
Nagehan Uskan studierte Film an der Universität Bologna und Soziologie an der Mimar Sinan Fine Arts Universität. Sie promovierte zum Thema aktivistisches Dokumentarkino in der Türkei und war Postdoktorandin an der Universität Freiburg in der Schweiz, wo sie über Migration und visuelle Darstellung forschte. Ihre Arbeiten sind Video- und Dokumentarfilme, worin Bild und Selbstdarstellung als Form von Aktivismus verstanden werden. Sie lebt auf der Insel Lesbos in Griechenland und produziert kollektive Videos mit selbstorganisierten migrantischen Kollektiven. Sie arbeitet auch als Filmprogrammiererin für verschiedene Institutionen und Feste.
Im Rahmen des RePLITO Visiting Research Fellowship Programm an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und in Kollaboration mit der Off-University lehrt Nagehan Uskan im Wintersemester 2022/23 am Bereich für Gender- and Mediastudies for the South Asian Region das zeitgenössische Filmemachen im Exil.
